A return to natural copper, three sessions in.
Six months out from a box dye. We pulled the brassiness across three appointments rather than one, kept the condition, and stopped colouring once she could see the natural tone underneath.
An independent salon on Rother Street, Stratford-Upon-Avon. Master colourists, considered cuts, twenty-five years on.
Twenty-five years on Rother Street. A handful of senior colourists, a proprietor still on the floor, and a quiet refusal to rush. We don't paint over what came before with another quick beige toner.
We listen. We ask awkward questions about what your hair has been through. We run a strand test if anything's gone on previously. And only then — once the picture is clear and the quote is on paper — do we lift a brush.
Most of our diary is filled with people who've been let down somewhere else first. They tend to stay.
"We never settle for mediocrity — and we never charge you to find out we couldn't do it."
— Harriet Evans, Proprietor
Four things, attentively. We work in pounds, not packages — every service is priced for your hair, the time it takes, and which member of the team you sit with. Ask, and we'll be straight.
Master-colourist led. New clients changing colour book a thirty-minute consultation first — strand test, written quotation, no surprises on the day. Bring three reference photos if you have them. We'll tell you honestly what'll work on you and what won't.
We pay attention to face shape, lifestyle, personality, and to the nine different patterns of wave and curl. You leave with the brush technique, the products, and an honest answer to could I do this in ten minutes a day?
Wellaplex rebuilds bonds during a colour service. KeraStraight calms frizz and cuts blow-dry time in half. Colour Fresh Mask tops up tone and moisture between visits. We'll only suggest one if your hair actually needs it.
Bridal hair the way you'd want a portrait taken — quietly, calmly, in plenty of time. A trial first. The morning of, in the salon or wherever you're getting ready.
Photographs taken in-salon under the same light you'll see yourself in. No filters. No retouching. Recent work from the chair.
Six months out from a box dye. We pulled the brassiness across three appointments rather than one, kept the condition, and stopped colouring once she could see the natural tone underneath.
No micro-trim, no five inches off "to make it healthier". A reshape around the face, a softer perimeter, and the small honest changes that make the lengths sit properly when she ties it up.
Tonal lift, no more lift than necessary. The kind of appointment where you only touch the pieces that actually need touching, and leave the rest alone.
Soft updo with room for a single pearl pin. We tried three shapes and stopped at the one she stopped fidgeting in. The morning of, we'll do the same one again — only this time it stays put.
First appointment we cut dry, type 3a, learning the way her curl sits. Second appointment we knew the shape we were after. Different conversation, faster chair time, better result.
More on Instagram @hevanssalon — every appointment we photograph, posted under the same light.
Most colour appointments start with the dye. Ours start with a thirty-minute consultation. You tell us what you want and what your hair has had done to it. We run a strand test if anything's gone on previously. We write you a proper quote in pounds.
Then — and only then — do we book the chair. It sounds slow. It is. It also means nobody walks out of Hevans with a colour they didn't expect, or a bill they didn't expect either.

Tell us roughly what you're after and a couple of dates that might work. If it's quicker, ring 01789 269666 or WhatsApp 07583 972780.
A note on booking fees. New clients are asked for £25 for cuts & blow-dries, or £50 for colour and other services. It's deducted from your bill on the day, and waived after your fifth visit — it just keeps the diary respectful of everyone's time. Colour services also need a skin test 48 hours before. We'll explain it all when you book.
